Surat Fire: 19 children dead after jumping for survival

Entire country is a grip of trauma to watch children jumping from fourth floor of Taxila Arcade in Surat, Gujarat. Mostly in the age group of 17 to 19 years, these children are compelled to jump for survival as the thick smoke coming out after a devastating fire has broke out at the Over 19 children are feared dead after they Taxsila Arcade on Sarthana area in Surat, Gujarat. There is a coaching center on the fourth floor of the arcade.

 

There was a total panic situation across the place as soon as visuals showing children jumping out of the window for survival as flames may engulf the center any moment. Parents of the children have rushed to the spot and trying to identify the deadbodies. The situation is indeed traumatic.

Gujarat state chief minister Vijay Rupani has ordered an inquiry into the incedent. Rupani has assured all cooperation required. He also announced 4-lakh rupees as an ex-gratia amount to the next to the kin of the deceased.

Twitter has been abuzz after the news broke out. Among others, Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi, Vijay Rupani, Rajnath Singh expressed their solidarity with family of the breaved. Messages are pouring across the world.

Once again local residents have pointed their fingers at the administration that not only allowed illegal construction but turned a blind eye towards repeated complaints about lack of fire fighting equipments. They openly called the incedent as murder as according to them reluctance of administration has killed these bright, innocent lives.
