“We don’t the situation to further deteriorate but things must become normal. Enough of stalemate situation. Our intiative is to try breaking the iceberg”. These were the words of senior doctors who had met the West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee at Nabanna.

The delegation of five senior doctors called upon the chief minister and requested her to take joint initiative inorder to break the strike.

The delegation after coming out informed the PRESS that they had a positive discussion with the chief minister. They informed that a delegation of junior striking doctors will meet Banerjee around 5 PM on Saturday.

All eyes are now on the the meeting. It would be interesting to see if Banerjee agrees the 10-point charter of the junior doctors including she must apologise to them for uttering “bohiragoto” (outsider) and also must go to see Parbaha who was attacked at NRS Hospital that had sparked the ongoing protest.

Earlier in the day, there were twists in the story. Shabba Hakim, Kolkata mayor Firhad (Bobby) Hakim’s daughter and Trinamool Congress MP Kakali Ghosh Dastidar’s son Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar stood bedside the striking doctors. Also Banerjee’s brother Kartick Banerjee’s son Abesh Banerjee joined thd protest adding emberrasment to her.
